Day 1, June 24, 2019, Heading to Tahiti
As soon as we returned from Bandon Dunes, Oregon, Dad let us know that something had gone terribly wrong with his home loan. He had all sorts of easy fix-it ideas, but there was no way to act quickly enough, however, because he was scheduled to leave for Tahiti on Tuesday, today. Dad came up with a solution, but he needed to act right away.
Tahiti and the total eclipse was going to be their last trip, but dad decided to forfeit the whole thing. He had to complete the new loan and finish the tasks he started.
When he called to cancel, with no refund, he came up with another genius idea. Give the whole trip to John and me. We had one day’s notice to get all our affairs in order and wardrobe bits and pieces together. We leave tonight!
John was extremely upset at first. I thought he was going to get a rash! When I came home from work last night, however, he was on the couch in sunglasses, a Panama hat, and Hawaiian shirt! He’s on board! (No pun intended!)
So that’s the story. So sorry that Dad has to stay home, but I can’t tell you how joyful he sounds on the phone to know that we are going in his place. To him, that means that it all worked out.
