No rehearsals! We had big plans to do it all, but got up late and stumbled across the street to Juniors (a very nice diner, by the way, with rather normal prices). After that late breakfast, we got our ideas together and decided to walk Manhattan.

My dream was to take a horse and carriage ride around Central Park— sounds poetic, doesn’t it? Clump, clump, jingle, jingle, neigh! But those plans were dashed by rain, so John came up with another plan. We pulled our jackets up around our necks, unfurled the umbrellas that we’d been carrying for days, and walked from the Marriott Marquis Hotel to the Chrysler Building, my other big goal. In the gloomy weather, we saw it through a mist, still a sight to behold. Art deco and so tall. Then, just down the street, we walked to the Empire State Building, then to St. Patrick’s Cathedral, where I lit a candle and we stayed until the first prayer of noon mass. Then to the Rockefeller Center, where we found the sign, “Top of the Rock.” No time to climb on this gloomy, rainy day, so off we went again. Central Library and the Radio City Music Hall. Then, Katie suggested we take one last stop at Wall Street so we could wave goodbye to our money, ha ha, but too far away…

We shared an Uber to the airport with Nikki and George, so had a great chat along the way and got there in record time.
